
BC's Voice of Mining Since
Mining Association of BC (MABC) is a $10 billion industry and the second largest resource industry of BC, which in turn makes it the proud and loud voice of mining in BC. Land usage for mining is quite small- 0.03% of BC’s total land base is utilized for mining activities, yet it cosists of 800 mining companies and 28,000 employees who are able to define the word success. MABC outcastes its competitors in being the largest port in Canada with outstanding mining expertise and investment.
Through an Act of Parliament, Mining Association of BC was established in 1901. It is one of the oldest industry associations in the province and as of 2007; the gross revenue was calculated to be a mouth dropping $6.9 billion. In 2007 it was also estimated 57% increase of exploration and $416 million in expenditure. MABC provides its members, government and public affairs, with updates on change, participation in government/industry committees, joint industry action to discuss common concerns and staff expertise.
MABC seeks to achieve practical and cost effective ways to reduce Greenhouse Gas emissions, strengthen its competitive advantage and enable growth of BC mining & smelting industry.
