Primary Silver Producer
Great Panther Resources Ltd. is a primary silver producer with a focus on mining in Mexico. The company currently owns two operating mines that are 100% owned with no royalties and a third project under development.
In 2005, Great Panther Resources acquired ownership of the historic Guanajuato silver mine and recently celebrated the re-opening of the famous Mexican mine. Guanajuato city was built on top of the mines in the 1600s leaving the underground mines relatively untouched. Historically, it is the second largest silver producer in Mexico and has one of the largest silver deposits in the world. Since it first opened, the Guanajuato mine has already produced over 1 billion ounces of silver and there is still a sufficient amount ore to be extracted.
The second mine in production is the Topia mine located in the Sierra Madre Mountains that contains silver-lead-zinc properties. Meanwhile, the third project is a molybdenum discovery which has been put to a halt for the time being at the Mapimi mine.
